Let's talk a little science…
Grounding is making a physical connection between the electrical frequencies of the human body and the frequencies of the earth. Think of it this way, the sun provides us with energy and vitamins, the earth is also a subtle source of energy in the form of electrons. So when you touch the ground, barefoot those electrons flow through you.
Makes sense right?
The earth’s surface, the ground we walk on, has a limitless supply of mobile electrons that gives the ground, lakes and oceans a natural negative electric charge. When you touch your body to the ground, it dissipates static electricity and any environmental electrical charges that are on you. As this happens you also receive a charge of energy (free electrons) to your body which then synchronizes with the natural frequencies of the earth. When you are grounded your body absorbs enough electrons to maintain the same electrical potential as the earth.

Go hug a tree - trees are deeply rooted in the ground, they are anchored, the roots and branches are spread out and the energy that comes up through the tree you become part of that energy. You can also walk barefoot on the grass and connect with mother earth
Be around water - take a bath or shower, go for a walk by a lake, dip your toes in the ocean, dance in the rain. Focus on your inhale and exhale, tune into the sound of the ocean tide, the feeling of being by the lake, the rain droplets hitting your roof. Imagine the water in your shower washing away any energy that is not rooted in love light and truth. Water is the element connected to our emotions, so anytime you feel overwhelmed, come back to your breath and focus your attention on the inhale and exhale.
Yoga is a wonderful practice to tune into your inner self. Its not about the handstands and hard poses. The goal is to create space where you were once stuck. To unveil the layers of protection you've built around your heart. To appreciate your body and become aware of the noise it creates, To make peace with who you are, to feel grounded and centered in your body. You are worth the quiet moment. You are worth the deeper breath. You are worth the time it takes to slow down. Be still and rest.
